You may be eligible for a free NHS-funded home eye test if you qualify for an NHS eye test and are unable to leave your home unaccompanied due to a physical or mental health condition or disability.
A home eye test usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your individual needs and home environment.
Appointments depend on your location and local team availability. Home Visiting Opticians must give the NHS at least 48 hours’ notice for up to two people at the same address.
If more than two people require an eye test, the waiting time can be up to three weeks.
If you need an urgent appointment, the team will try to prioritise you once the 48-hour notice period has passed.
If you qualify for an NHS-funded home eye test, the eye examination is completely free.
If you need glasses, you may be entitled to an NHS optical voucher to help cover the cost of your new frames and lenses. Home Visiting Opticians also offers a range of fully funded glasses, meaning you may not have to pay anything towards your new eyewear if you qualify.
All glasses come with the Home Visiting Opticians Promise, which includes free aftercare and servicing.
